We are so proud to be one of very few Canadian stockists to carry Mosser Glass. Not only to we love the product, but we love the story behind this long-standing family-owned and operated business.
Mosser glassware originated more than 50 years ago with Orie Mosser and the Cambridge Glass Company in Ohio. After the company’s closure in 1954, Orie’s son Tom continued and refined the trade over the next few years. Beginning with the basics of quality glass manufacturing, Tom was able to establish Mosser Glass in 1971.
Rooted in fine family tradition, Mosser Glass is a company that values traditional approaches that are moulded (no pun intended) for a contemporary context using primarily raw materials and a six step manufacturing process. Proudly displaying its legacy, glassware produced by the Mosser company demonstrates detailed craftsmanship combined with intricate design. The pieces are impressive yet practical.
Mosser encompasses a wide selection of beautifully handcrafted glassware pieces (see some of what we have in stock below) that blend classic designs with modern functionality. The timeless nature of these creations is sure to withstand years of use and love. Add a feeling of nostalgia, warmth, and elegance to your home with these new products now in store at M&L.
You really can’t go wrong with these kitchen staples that provide a refined yet vintage look. This pitcher features a custom moulded rim and cut glass design that extends from the surface to the base.
This high-quality assortment of kitchenware is handcrafted to perfection in our favourite shade of jadeite green.
This delicately moulded mermaid-like glass dish is versatile and sure to be a conversation starter! Use it for soap, jewelry, candies, and even an ash tray.
Add a touch of whimsy to your kitchen table with this lovely cake stand, beautifully handcrafted chicken dish, and adorable little salt and pepper shakers.
This tabletop juice reamer in jadeite is a beautiful yet practical addition to any kitchen counter space.
In Remembrance to those who bravely and selflessly gave of themselves.
Please note that we will be closed on Monday, November 13th.
We’re falling in love with this new selection of NOA NOA in store. Around for more than 30 years, this Danish brand is a M&L favourite. Inspired by the modern bohemian woman, NOA NOA clothing exudes a beautiful feminine edge. Drop by in store and dress to impress with this versatile collection perfect for these crisp autumn days.

We love the look of French fashion label, Harris Wilson. It’s been around for over 40 years for good reason – top quality fabrics combined with timeless, wearable, comfortable shapes that don’t age. Even though the Spring/Summer collection is filled with dresses, everything is true to the easy, tomboy vibe of the brand. Take a peek at some of our favourite picks – more to see in the shop!
We love a good jumpsuit, and the fashion trend that’s been riding high the last few years is showing no sign of slowing down. We’ve got a ton of options in body-loving linens and cottons, and they’re good for all occasions. Whether you’re looking for something for the beach, a night on the town, or the office, we think you’ll be able to find one that’s just right. Have a peek at what’s in store. The Freya Jumpsuit also from Kordal is a personal favourite. You can tie it three ways for three distinct looks. Gorgeous cotton fabric with good structure. Love the olive olive colour for summer.

Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 14th! What’s your favourite way to show your mom a little love? Personally, from the receiving end of things, I’d really like to sleep in past 7am ;) and not have to walk the dog first thing, have a mimosa and a poached egg or two for my tummy, spend a day outside in the woods or by the water, and maybe cap it off with dinner at a favourite local restaurant.
There are so many ways to show our moms (or our step-moms, grandmoms, mother-figures) how much we love and appreciate them. If you’re in the market for a thoughtful, special gift, that’s our specialty! Below are some ideas chosen especially with moms in mind. And this is just a starting point… there’s more to feast you eyes on in the shop. Pay us a visit; we would love to help you find that perfect gift. xo
The ultimate indulgent item. Give your mom the night off and watch her lock herself in the bathroom while she soaks in a hot bath with a novel and glass of wine by candlelight. $189
To complement her bath, soothing salts from Kismet to help soak any tension away. Choose from three varieties. $21.

A summer-weight scarf that’s pretty and practical. This one is from Noa Noa. $115.
This is a gift that your mom will likely have to share, but at least let her use it first. A canvas hammock from Layback. This is one of four patterns we have in stock. They’re rated to hold up to 450 lbs. That will probably fit your mom x3, or two big dudes. $135.
Pyrrha necklaces make it into a lot of our gift guides. We love them for their aesthetics, but the symbolism behind each one makes them really personal. We’ve got lots to choose from in the shop. $123 – $266
We love these large cotton throws from Slow Down Studio, made in collaboration with different artists. They are produced in limited runs and we only have one of each style, so don’t delay. This one is the Mayfield Throw. More designs in the shop! $290
This blouse from Noa Noa is pretty and easy to wear, with it’s relaxed cut. It’s versatile enough to wear at the office as well as Mother’s Day brunch. $172.

It’s our way of saying thank you for being wonderful customers and for supporting local, independent businesses. It truly means the world to little shops like ours. It also happens to be Thanksgiving weekend, so you can shop a little and feel good about the deals you scored, and then go home and stuff your face with turkey and mashed potatoes.
Lastly, all sales will be final, and we have to say ‘no’ to holds and layaways for the duration of the sale. Thanks for understanding :) We hope to see you this weekend!

We just received another shipment from LA based Black Crane. This is one of our all time favourite labels in the shop. Focusing on a silhouette that complements supple lines and comfort, the collection is characterized as minimal and edgy. Designers Alexander Yamaguchi and Momoko Suzuki consider environmental issues seriously, and all production process including fabric weaving take place in Los Angeles.

Tie Romper in marine blue. Comes in navy too.
Long sleeve shirt in white worn over cocoon dress. Shirt also available in sky blue and grey/black.
3/4 sleeve sheer dress in white.
3/4 sleeve dress in navy.
The flattering and classic shape of the Darted Shell Dress from Archerie is so good that we had to get it in three fabrics.
Instead of having the waistband sit right at the natural waist, it hits at the bottom of the rib cage, making it flattering for so many body types (yes, even us high-waisted types that can’t wear most tailored dresses, or feel like a stuffed sausage with traditional waistbands).
With weddings, proms and summer parties right around the corner, these are perfect – so classic and pretty.
Archerie is designed and made in NYC, and focuses on quality, timeless, feminine pieces.
Red striped seersucker. The perfect garden party frock.
From a distance the pattern looks like a classic houndstooth…
…but it’s actually unicorn heads!
And you can never go wrong with classic navy in a subtle crinkle cotton.
Hope everyone has fun plans for the Victoria Day long weekend!
Hours this weekend will be:

The shop is quickly filling up with amazing shoes for sunny weather. We’re proud to say that we are currently the only Canadian retailer to carry Beek sandals. These handmade leather shoes are designed with quality and longevity in mind. Even the sole is made completely of leather, and has a molded instep to support and conform to your arches. Moreover, Beek gives back by donating a meal to a child in need for every pair of shoes sold. Amazing! We have the “Finch” style in stock, available in the colours below.

We’ve always been fans of classic, well-made goods for the home that have stood the test of time. We’ve recently been restocked on two brands that we’ve carried since the shop opened – Riess Enamelware and Bauer Pottery – and a new edition to our collection, Fog Linenworks. Below is a bit of history…
Riess is an Austrian based company that has roots dating back to 1550. They began making high-quality porcelain enamel kitchenware in 1922, and the company is currently run by the ninth Riess family generation. The company philosophy revolves around sustainability, ecological vision and social responsibility. Their manufacturing is powered by green energy from three hydroelectric plants and their production process is carbon neutral.
Riess cookware consists of four coats of porcelain enamel applied to a steel core. Porcelain enamel has no artificial elements in it and is completely recyclable into scrap metal. It can be used on all heat sources, is nickel-free, scratch-resistant, non-porous and easy to clean. Morever, it comes in the best colours! We’ve got lidded casseroles, baking dishes, saucepans, ladles, milk pots, and mixing bowls.
Bauer Pottery is another favourite collection of ours. The company’s roots date back to 1878 in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1910 J.A. Bauer moved production to Los Angeles, California where the company expanded it’s designs and colour selections. In the 30’s the famous “ring designs” were added to all manner of vessels – butter dishes, mixing bowls, candle holders, and honey pots to name a few. The most famous period for Bauer Pottery had begun and the company enjoyed years of success. Eventually things changed, and in the early 60’s the company shut down it’s production. As time passed, original Bauer pieces became highly collectable.
It wasn’t until years later in 1998 that current owner, Janek Bonieki, purchased the rights to reproduce classic Bauer designs. Using original vintage pieces, new molds were made. Original and new colours were developed – without the use of harmful elements like lead and uranium! A new era of Bauer Pottery was born and we can now enjoy replicas of the original pieces.
In the shop you’ll find creamers, sugar bowls, mixing bowls, egg cups and butter dishes in all colours!
Fog Linenworks was started by Japanese designer Yumiko Sekine after her own search for affordable everyday linens came up short. She travelled to Lithuania, where flax has been grown and spun into linen since the Middle Ages. This began her relationship with Lithuanian makers who produce all of Yumiko’s designs. She started with seven items in her line, and ten years later there is a large and growing line of linen homegoods – including clothing – which we also carry!
It just so happens that all these collections coordinate beautifully with each other. We hope you will come in and see them in person!

We love UZI. A tiny two person business based in NYC, they sew and individually screen print each garment one at a time. Simple, bold pieces you can build your wardrobe around. So good. Take a look at what’s in store!
We are so happy to carry Black Crane in the shop now. We are so proud to have FERAL CHILDE in the shop now! It’s pretty evident that design-duo Alice Wu and Moriah Carlson both went to art school when you see their clothing. Their collaborative sketches form the basis of each season’s textile prints, and their use of sustainable fabrics, low impact dyes and that fact that everything is made in NYC makes their work even more special. Subtle and sensitive detailing on each piece completes the picture.
Their Spring 2014 Collection, entitled “Disappearing Object Phenomenon”, plays on the sentimental curiosities of disappearance and reappearance with nostalgic tributes and the wonder of unexplained rediscovery. The collection is comprised entirely of natural fibers including hand-loomed organic cotton, silk linen, Tencel and hemp. First delivery is in the shop, the second delivery to arrive soon! We are in love!
The Borrower’s Blouse is a personal favourite. Effortless and very chic.

In case you’ve been wondering what we’ve been up to the last several weeks, well we’ve been pretty darn busy to say the least. In January we started preparations to move into the space next door to make room for more women’s clothing. The shop stays true to its focus on well-made, hand-crafted wares, we’ve simply expanded that vision to include more clothing.
This past Friday we finally peeled the paper off the window to unveil our expansion which we are so very proud of. There are still some kinks to iron out, but we are definitely open for business! As Spring stock begins to arrive, I can’t tell you how excited we are about the designers that are on our racks. We love their work and we feel so lucky to have them in the shop.
So what can you expect to see coming in for Spring? Summer has been super busy. With kids out of school there’s been more than the usual running around, and fitting in a little family vacation means something has to slide – hence the lack of regular blog updates. I promise to keep things updated a little more frequently from now on!
Just so you know, our summer clothing sale is going strong. We’ve marked things waaaay down to make way for Fall arrivals. Speaking of new things, here are some quick shots of what’s come through the door in recent days.
The Skytop dress from Lauren Moffatt is the perfect casual dress. I think it should have been called the ‘Errand” dress though, because it makes those mundane errands all the more exciting when you look hot doing them. Be the best looking chick in the grocery store or getting your oil changed when you’re wearing this little number.
We LOVE this version of the classic striped shirt. Need we say more?
There’s a reason Lauren Moffatt comes out with this style every season. It looks great on so many bodies; it’s timeless, versatile, can be dressed up or down, can be worn with snaps done up or open, and the detailing makes it a stand-out piece in anyone’s wardrobe. We love this silk print in a colour reminiscent of a certain China pattern from bygone years….?
Silk pintuck dress. Miss Moffatt’s best selling pintuck blouse reworked into a dress.
A no-brainer wardrobe basic. Cotton jersey crew neck from Sundry.
One of our favourites from Sundry. The pullover hoodie in peacock blue.
Half way between leggings and sweat pants these will keep you cosy as the temperature drops.
Ultra comfortable sweat pants from Sundry with their signature dip-dyed draw string. These are my favourite things to slip into after a long day at work! Not that any of you make my days seem long, but you know what I mean.
IT’S A PARTY TO CELEBRATE OUR FABULOUS CUSTOMERS!
You guys keep us going… without you we wouldn’t be!
There will be special store wide savings that evening only, including and extra 10% taken off sale items.
So come join us THIS THURSDAY, JULY 11th FROM 6 – 9 PM.
There’ll be sweet treats and some summery bevies to enjoy as well!
Just our way of saying thanks for being THE best customers EVER!
RSVP’s to email@example.com

It’s been a little crazy in the shop with holiday shoppers braving the cold and wet. But as I write this it’s actually looking quite lovely outside – there’s even a patch of blue poking out behind that little grey cloud. Hello, blue!
Anyhoo, below are some pics of recent arrivals that might be perfect for that special someone on your list. We are pretty much bursting at the seams with lovely items to give and receive. We hope to see you soon. xo
Get organized with these smart and practical chalkboard canisters. The flat lids make them great for stacking and the neutral colour scheme looks great in all kitchens.
Matchsticks in vintage apothecary bottles. Turn it over and the bottom of the bottles have been scored for striking the matches. So clever. So cute.
Beautifully made ceramic teapots (and teacups and french butter dishes) from Calgary’s Juliana Rempel. We love the combination of the glazes with the red clay (sourced from Medicine Hat). No two are alike, all are beautiful.

We’re coming up to the ONE YEAR birthday of Much&Little! The last year has been a whirlwind of activity. We can hardly believe how the shop has grown, the wonderful people and customers we’ve met, and the constant learning that takes place each day.
Part of the fun has been looking back at what the shop was like in the late summer of 2011 and what it looks like today. That was a crazy time getting the space ready for opening day. Enjoy looking at the make-over photos below! Scroll down to see the final “after” shot, courtesy of the multi-talented Dave at the kreative.
This was the space when we first saw it. Didn’t look too inviting… but there was potential!
Yep, behind that old t-bar ceiling was…. another ceiling! Some old walls came down, too.
Time for drywall.
New lighting is in, now the shelving goes in bit by bit… that was a frustrating job thanks to uneven floors.
Floors are painted, shelves are in, almost there…
The end result!
There’s a lovely crispness in the air these days… almost time for toasty evenings by the fire with a hot toddy in one hand and a good book in the other. Getting cosy in one of these Trovata sweaters is also on the list. Aren’t they great? We love the colour blocking! 100% lambswool, the fit is relaxed and easy. A perfect casual sweater.
Poppy, pink and cream.
Forest, sage and navy.
Cream, flax and gold.
Cream and brown striped cardigan with contrast trim.
Brown crew neck with mustard trim.
I can’t believe it’s almost the end of September. I know many people are lamenting the passing of summer, but I have to say these first few days of Fall have been lovely. The seasons will change and time will march on, so go with the flow I say!
Speaking of change, there is much of that at Much&Little! Welcome aboard to the multi-talented Katie, our newest staff member; and sweet farewell to Grant (although somehow I think we’ll still be seeing you in the neighborhood or darkening our doors on occasion).
I’m fighting off a wee cold but carry on I must; holiday orders are to be placed, so sniffles begone! In the coming weeks and months there will be lots of new stuff in the shop, plus replenishment of our favourite items – we are very excited about it all!
It’s always a challenge to stay on top of these blog posts – any attempt at posting once a week has turned out to be more like once a month. But we are on Instagram, which I love – it’s a super quick way share what’s new, or just plain fun. If you have the app, look us up #muchlittleshop and start following! If we’re not blogging, we’re more than likely Instagramming!
Anyway… I did want to share about some wonderful new things in the shop. Below are the details and photos. This week I’ll be getting in a whole bunch of other goodies, so come on in and pay us a visit soon!
Local designer Ashley Watson makes the softest wallets from reclaimed leather garments. I personally own one and love it. Don’t expect these wallets to be stiff and structured. Soft and supple is the name of the game here. Each one is sewn one at a time by Ashley herself. We’ve got the larger button wallets for girls who have more stuff to stash, or the smaller tie wallets for simpler needs.
Inside detail of the smaller tie wallet.
Inner detail of the larger button wallet; also has an exterior zippered pocket.
Amazing skincare from local, fair trade and organic Fable Naturals. We have their lipbalms (three flavours in a biodegradable cardboard tube); their body balm which is effective on dry areas as well as taming flyaways; and (my personal favourite) the sugar scrub. Use the scrub in the shower and you will have the smoothest, softest skin you can imagine – think baby’s bottom smooth. The scents are intoxicating – I can’t get enough of it!
From TW Pottery in Los Angeles. I’m in love with these earthy, imperfect vases and planters. They are weighty and quirky and one-of-a-kind. I think the vases would also make great utensil holders in my dream coast modern home!
Love these hanging planters with succulents nestled inside. Hmmmm, which glaze is my favourite?
Fall is in the air and it’s time to start thinking about dressing for the season. Say bye-bye to flip flops and cut-offs, hello to smart tailoring and more pulled-together looks. Yep, it’s the perfect time to welcome Thom Dolan into the shop!
Before lauching her own line in 2010, Thomasine Dolan spent 20 years in the fashion industry working for companies like Giorgio Armani, Bill Blass and Ralph Lauren. She combines classic men’s tailoring, high quality fabrics, and thoughtful detailing for a look that’s feminine, flattering and timeless. Now who wouldn’t Fall for that?
The wool T-shirt dress in mini houndstooth is very wearable and so dear! Love those pockets.
The Smart Dress in a beautiful rich plummy brown with contrasting cotton collar and cuff detail. It’s a perfect Fall dress. We’ve paired it with a Trois Petit Points locket in Caramel.
The collar detail on the Smart Dress. We love the subtle pink dots!
The Oxford Shirt Dress in ombre plaid is LOVELY. Shown with the leather lasso belt (sold separately).
The Swiss Dot shirt in brown is subtly sheer. Part school girl, part sexy.
This fabric is crazy beautiful. It’s all in the details baby!
The Pretty Sweater in the loveliest shade of blue. Cotton and cashmere. Shown with the Trois Petit Points enamel locket in white.
Surprise! The buttons go down the back!
Our first Fall delivery of Lauren Moffatt has arrived and we are blown away by the beauty of these pieces! If you like clothing that is timeless, vintage-inspired and feminine, then Lauren Moffatt is your girl. A Philadelphia native, Ms. Moffatt headed to New York at the age of 24 to pursue her dream. She launched her label in October 2000, and has come a long way from sewing hundreds of pieces on her sailboat home on the banks of the Hudson River.
Her love of art and design shines through in her work: the colours, the details, the textures – it’s beautiful. Below is what we have in store now and there’s more to come – we’d love you to come in to take a closer look.
I don’t know how many times you can say “OMG” in a single breath, but that’s what we did when we saw this dress. It’s 100% silk with delicate lace details throughout and comes with it’s own silk slip. Ladylike, timeless and utterly lovely.
The wool Ponyboy sweater paired with the Great Gatsby silk skirt and red leather belt is so charming! The sweater has red and cream banding on the neck, cuff and bottom hem and a cute LM monogram on sleeve. The skirt is lined. Pretty, so pretty.
The silk pintuck blouse is my personal favourite. A classic piece that will never go out of style. It has asymmetrical snaps that can be unsnapped for a casual look (as shown) or snap it up and tuck it in if you’re feeling dandy. Wear it to work, wear it on a date, wear it on girls’ night – wear it whenever you want to feel lovely.
Nobody does casual, comfortable clothing quite like James Perse. They are effortless to wear, and will become the staple workhorses of your wardrobe. We just received a shipment of sweatshirts and pants that are perfect for relaxed weekends and BBQ’s, and two styles of dresses we are simply smitten about. We had to try everything on, so take a look at the pics below!
Ah, clothes to live in! Slubby Raglan sweatshirt in Freshwater has a really nice neckline; Carpenter Pants are cotton with 2% elastine for just the right amount of movement.
Vintage sweatshirt in Prism and Carpenter Pants in Signet. So comfortable, once you put them on you don’t want to take them off!
This is the Shell Dress looking like a dream on J! The colour is the softest shade of blush. I think the picture says it all.
J is wearing the Utility Dress here. It’s a beautiful neckline and we love the colour!
The Utility Dress once again but on a completely difference body type. I’m only 5′ tall!
